We had a productive morning at The Norwich Forum participating in the Norwich Science Fair where Peter and I were part of a panel discussing “is it possible to ‘recover’ from a dementia diagnosis?”
The panel, expertly facilitated by award winning broadcaster Joanna Durrant, was a great platform for Peter to share his lived experiences of how he lives well with dementia.
The audience was engaged and inquisitive and their questions reflected the growing interest, concern and desire to learn about dementia.
It also presented as another great opportunity for us to sell some more copies of “Slow Puncture” and “Walk with Me” at the Book Shop in the Forum.
With huge thanks for our driver for the day, the wonderful Abi, who navigated the foggy roads to Norfolk and into Norwich, or as Peter likes to call it “the ci’y”.
I would also like to thank Recovery college | Norfolk and Suffolk NHS in general and Juni in particular for inviting Peter and me to take part in this talk: it was great to meet Juni at last and to sign the copy of her book.
Another thank you (these reports increasingly sounded like Oscar speeches…) to Molly from Alzheimer's Research UK for taking the time to come to hear the discussion and to Gail Cardy from Suffolk Council. The links we have made - and are continuing to make - with people in this field is testament to the way Peter's story is making an impact.
