The One Show, Anneka Rice and a Cup of Tea

I would like to give a huge thanks to our friend and contact at Leading Lives, Milly Gaskin, for brokering the introduction with The One Show, Harbourside Films and Animorph. Animorph is a worker-owned cooperative and have been collaborating with Leading Lives (who are a social care co-operative).

Animorph have been working on some technology to assist those with memory impairment - glasses which use AI to prompt words and to give instructions for additional clarity - and Peter was delighted to be one of the first people to try the equipment out.

It's very exciting that Animorph have competed against hundreds of other technology organisations and have made it to the last five finalists for the Alzheimer's Society's Longitude Award.

The filming, which took the best part of three hours, was distilled into a two minute slot on The One Show (the link is in the media section of this website) but it was a really incredible experience for us all to have a film crew and Anneka Rice rock up in Friston! I think it's fair to say that the Berrys never imagined for a moment that Anneka would be in their house making tea for them and, from the feedback received, the tea was more than adequate. Note, too, the subtly placed copy of Slow Puncture near the kettle. Nothing like a subliminal message...

Both Peter and Teresa thought the glasses had huge potential in assisting those with a dementia diagnosis to be more independent - let's see if these glasses make it to the next stage of the competition!
