I had no idea that this group existed: based in Christ Church in the heart of Ipswich, the group meet on Thursdays and offer their members hot food, company and a talk from a range of outside speakers. These volunteer led projects offer a huge benefit to the community and it was a pleasure to be able to attend yesterday's group.
Sometimes a talk will create unexpected memories for Peter. As you can see, Peter caught sight of this harmonium. He was delighted to strike a note or two and to remember how his father's aunt used to play one. He told me: "A harmonium is the same as an organ but orans work on air and harmoniums work on a vacuum..." Who knew? Clearly not me!
Thank you to the group's current organiser, Ann, for inviting us to speak and for the very kind feedback we received from group members. I am sure the hefty portion of apple crumble and custard that was thrust onto Peter's plate gave him the fuel to deliver another top notch and heart-felt talk.
