Last year, Peter and I participated in a book club zoom meeting to discuss "Slow Puncture". The meeting, which was initiated and hosted by the University of Hull, was for students working on their MSc in dementia studies. Today, we had another book club meeting, this time to discuss "Walk with Me".
It's so fantastic to know that both books will now be on the reading list at the University and that these students - and future cohorts - will be the beneficiaries of Peter's wisdom and insights.
From my perspective, I continue to feel privileged that I have helped Peter in his wish - "to set his words in stone" - and that his words and emotions will not be 'washed away by the tides of dementia."
I also want to mention our photographer, Daniel Ruffles whose photos were lauded and our friend, Sheila Marsh, who drew the front cover of the book and whose haunting image was also admired.
Thank you to Ellie for setting this up and to Emma for stepping in to chair at the last minute. And thank you to those students who attended and asked such pertinent and thoughtful questions.
Our amazing journey continues!
Hi Michelle - sorry, I've only just seen this! I'm sure Hull will forgive you;-) I'm so glad you found it useful. I've definitely seen your name on one of his social media sites. Thanks for taking the time to message me. And his accent is wonderful, isn't it!
I'm doing an MSc in Dementia Studies (at a different university - sorry Hull!) and took Slow Puncture with me as one of my recent holiday reading books and loved it. I heard Peter talking about it on the radio (I think) and could hear his voice with that lovely Suffolk burr as I read the book. Thank you both.
