WENT FISHING & CAUGHT A COUPLE OF WHOPPERS

During an idle moment a few weeks ago, I went fishing. By this I mean I dunked my metaphorical net into the water in a random and entirely unstructured manner (hard to believe that I could be either random or unstructured but there you go) and emailed a few universities' social care departments to see if they would be interested in having Peter talk to students. Imagine my excitement when I hauled the net out of the water and inspected its wriggling contents. There, entangled in the mesh of the net, I saw had caught Bangor University and University of Essex.

A few weeks ago Peter and I zoomed with Bangor (who subsequently have included "Slow Puncture" in their curriculum) and today was the turn of the University of Essex.

I would like to thank Dr Mary Kennedy, Lecturer at the University of Essex Health and Social Care, who responded to my email and facilitated today's presentation. Her enthusiasm clearly had transmitted itself to her students. About 60 students logged on to listen to Peter talk about his very personal dementia experience and journey. The response and the ensuing questions showed that they had been moved and enlightened and some, I am sure, will embed Peter's thoughts into their social care practice.

I never knew that fishing could be so much fun. You should see the one that got away...
